Hi/Lo: An Aerobic Workout for All Fitness Levels

Are you looking to try an aerobics class at the YMCA? Check out our Hi/Lo class! This class is a great combination of high cardio with little impact. In fact, you will have one foot on the ground at all times. You might be wondering what Hi/Lo is exactly. We have some extensive information about the class, its benefits, where you can find it, and what to expect!

This class is high cardio but low impact. This means you are getting a great aerobic workout, but you get to control the intensity based on your fitness level. Hi/Lo gives participants the opportunity to perform manageable, low-impact movements between periods of high intensity.

How can Hi/Lo benefit me?

In addition to being great for cardio, this class will get those calories burning. Participants can burn up to 500 calories from one hour of Hi/Lo! Members who have participated in this class have found it to be a wonderful introduction to their fitness journey. No matter your fitness level, you’ll be able to move your body with easy-to-follow exercises.

What can I expect?

Be prepared for an energizing aerobic exercise! Our trained fitness instructor will take you through a series of exercises for an hour. The class will begin with some warm-up exercises and stretches and then will proceed to more intense cardio. A class might include stability balls, free weights, weighted bars, resistance bands, and choreographed aerobics and kickboxing. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows your body to breathe while you sweat.

Where can I find a Hi/Lo class?

Currently, Hi/Lo is every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at our 18th Street Location. This early morning class is a perfect opportunity to get up and have a great workout that will keep you energized throughout the day. Feel free to join us for our next class! If you are new, show up a little early and the instructor will help you get the equipment you’ll need ready. If you can’t make it to Hi/Lo, don’t worry. We offer several other Group Fitness classes and can help you figure out which class is right for you and your fitness level. Check our schedule or visit our front desk and ask about other options!
